Book Walk of the Year: The Derwent Skyline

Event Description

The Derwent Skyline takes you through the quieter heart of the Lake District — five Wainwright summits circling Derwent Water, with a peaceful lakeside return to Keswick. This is classic Lakeland walking away from the crowds: wild open fells, hidden tarns, and some of the finest views in the Lakes.

You’ll climb Walla Crag above Keswick before heading across the windswept heights of Bleaberry Fell, High Seat, High Tove, and Armboth Fell. These quiet summits reveal a wilder, more atmospheric side of Lakeland — where you’ll find space, silence, and unspoiled scenery.

The route’s second half brings a complete change of mood: descending from the high fells to follow the tranquil western shore of Derwent Water back to Keswick, through ancient woodland and beside island-dotted waters.

This is Lakeland walking at its best — challenging ascents rewarded with spectacular views, followed by a serene shoreline finish. Perfect for walkers seeking something beyond the usual Lake District peaks.

  • What our clients say...

“It was my first time at Snowdonia so I was a bit apprehensive about what to expect. But it was excellent from the word go… Jo encouraged us from start to finish and I tackled scrambling and other aspects of mountain walking that I never envisioned myself doing. Out of the comfort zone but in a safe, controlled manner. Jo made you feel like you could anything!”
