Every mountain day feels better with the right team beside you, so choosing who you walk with makes all the difference.
For more than a decade, Mountain Walks has been helping people explore the Lake District and many of the UK’s most beautiful mountain areas, creating days that are safe, friendly, and genuinely memorable.
Here’s what sets us apart...
A Decade of Guiding Experience

Over the past decade we’ve organised more than 1,000 mountain days and welcomed over 25,000 people onto our walks and courses. This depth of experience means we understand how to create days that are enjoyable, well-paced, and rewarding for walkers of all abilities. There are only a handful of companies in the UK operating at this scale — and even fewer who have achieved it with the same consistent team of dedicated and professional Mountain Leaders.
Local Leaders Who Live and Breathe the Mountains

Our Mountain Leaders are local to the area and know these hills better than anyone. They spend their lives walking, running, climbing, exploring, and learning the mountains first-hand.
This depth of local knowledge means you’ll experience insights you simply won’t find elsewhere — from quieter routes and hidden viewpoints to how conditions can shift from valley to valley. Walking with people who truly love, appreciate, and understand these mountains gives every day a richer, more authentic feel.
A Core Team You’ll Get to Know

We believe familiarity makes for a better experience. That’s why our trusted team of Mountain Leaders have been with us for years. You’ll see the same faces on many of our walks, and people quickly feel at ease knowing exactly who they’ll be walking with and the level of care they can expect.
Our amazing team is what truly sets us apart. This sense of continuity creates a welcoming community around Mountain Walks — something our regular walkers value enormously.
Carefully Planned Adventures with Our Own Touch

Many of our routes are designed and developed by us. We spend countless hours exploring, refining, and adjusting our days out to make them unique, interesting, and often a little different from the well-trodden favourites.
Whether it’s a well-loved classic mountain day or one of our bespoke adventures, every route is carefully crafted so the day flows well, the scenery is outstanding, and the experience feels genuinely special. We also make sure everyone is fully prepared before the walk, with clear information and guidance so you know exactly what to expect.
Supportive, Small Groups

A friendly atmosphere is at the heart of what we do. Our groups are small enough for everyone to feel included, supported, and able to walk at a comfortable pace.
It’s an ideal environment for solo walkers too — you’ll be welcomed straight away, meet like-minded people, and never feel out of place.
Skills, Confidence, and Enjoyment

We don’t just organise mountain days — we also run a range of practical skills and navigation courses designed to help you grow in confidence in the mountains. Everything is taught in a relaxed, friendly, and encouraging setting.
Whether you’re learning the basics of navigation or taking the next step towards more technical mountain days, you’ll be supported by experienced leaders who want you to progress and enjoy the learning process. Many people finish a course feeling more capable, more confident, and more excited about their own adventures.
Trusted by Our Walkers — Again and Again

One of the clearest signs we’re doing things right is that people come back. A lot.
On many of our walks, over 75% of the group are returning customers — and some have been joining us for years.
Our Net Promoter Score has remained between +92 and +96, placing us among the highest-rated outdoor experience providers in the UK.
This loyalty speaks for itself: walkers trust us, value the experience, and enjoy being part of the Mountain Walks community.
